Job Description:

We are looking for a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant/Tax Analyst to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will strive in a fast-paced environment and enjoy being part of a collaborative team. They will work closely with partners, clients, and colleagues on a variety of engagements, with a focus on bookkeeping support, compilation engagements, and corporate and personal tax. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, an interest in taxation, and a commitment to professional growth within a fast paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare compilation (Notice to Reader) engagement files'
• Perform bookkeeping, reconciliations and adjusting entries
• Support year-end working paper preparation and file documentation
• Prepare personal (T1), trust (T3) and corporate (T2) income tax returns
• Assist with preparation and filing of T4's, T5's, EHT, WSIB, GST/HST, PST etc.
• Communicate with clients and CRA on various tax matters such as preparing responses to CRA reviews and audits
• Conduct tax research and support tax planning initiatives
• Communicate directly with clients to deliver support, resolve issues, and ensure timely completion of engagements
• Contribute to continuous improvement of processes and firm practices.

Skills:

• Excellent attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with proven experience in client service
• Ability to work independently and within a team
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
• Strong technical knowledge of accounting principles and Canadian tax (corporate and personal)
• Proficiency in accounting and tax software (e.g., QuickBooks Online, CaseWare, TaxPrep) and advanced Excel skills
• Experience in a public accounting firm as a contractor, co-op placement, or part/full time employee is an asset

Education:

• Pursuing CPA designation (or in final stages of completion)
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

Additional:

• Must pass a criminal background check, education/employment verification
• Ability to work extra hours as needed during tax season
