Staff Accountant/Tax Analyst Position

Job Description: We are looking for a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant/Tax Analyst to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and enjoy being part of a collaborative team. They will work closely with partners, clients, and colleagues on a variety of engagements, with a focus on bookkeeping support, compilation engagements, and corporate and personal tax. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, an interest in taxation, and a commitment to professional growth within a fast paced environment. Key Responsibilities: Prepare compilation (Notice to Reader) engagement files Perform bookkeeping, reconciliations and adjusting entries Support year-end working paper preparation and file documentation Prepare personal (T1), trust (T3) and corporate (T2) income tax returns Assist with preparation and filing of T4’s, T5’s, EHT, WSIB, GST/HST, PST etc. Communicate with clients and CRA on various tax matters such as preparing responses to CRA reviews and audits Conduct tax research and support tax planning initiatives Communicate directly with clients to deliver support, resolve issues, and ensure timely completion of engagements Contribute to continuous improvement of processes and firm practices. What You Bring: Skills: Excellent attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with proven experience in client service Ability to work independently and within a team Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines Strong technical knowledge of accounting principles and Canadian tax (corporate and personal) Proficiency in accounting and tax software (e.g., QuickBooks Online, CaseWare, TaxPrep) and advanced Excel skills Experience in a public accounting firm as a contractor, co‑op placement, or part/full time employee is an asset Education: Pursuing CPA designation (or in final stages of completion) Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field Additional: Must pass a criminal background check, education/employment verification Ability to work extra hours as needed during tax season Why Join NBG Chartered Professional Accountants NBG CPA has been rated one of the top three best-rated accounting firms in Hamilton for two years in a row.
