Powell's Supermarket, Bay Roberts, is now hiring a Deli Clerk

Looking for a challenge? Experience is an asset, but not necessary We are currently hiring a Deli Associate at our Bay Roberts location.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide a high level of prompt and friendly customer service
  • Maintain a positive work environment
  • Prepare vegetables, meat and sandwiches
  • Utilize and prepare products in creative ways
  • Prepare "fresh and easy meals" while maintaining strict adherence to Company recipes
  • Properly cut, wrap and scale deli items
  • Operate slicer, wrapping and cooking equipment
  • Assist in maintaining all equipment in safe working conditions
  • Assist with inventory
  • Assist with unloading, stocking, facing, filling and rotating merchandise
  • Observe temperatures within cooler and report failures to management
  • Knowledge of weekly ad items
  • Answer phone and take special orders
  • General housekeeping in the department
  • Clean and sanitize work area (including tables, floor, walls, cases, cooler, freezer, etc.)
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent and experience working in grocery, restaurant, or related field; or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent customer service skills and a positive attitude are essential to interact with customers and employees
  • Reliable and dependable
  • Ability to follow direction
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to perform repetitious activities
  • Requires the ability to reach, bend, balance, lift and transport various objects, at times could weigh up to 30 lbs. (assistance will be provided with heavy items)
  • Must have the ability to stand, walk and/or move about for extended periods of time
  • Will involve frequent repetitive hand coordination

  • Must have the ability to regularly walk or stand for extended periods of time
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to move quickly and safely
  • Will involve frequent, repetitive hand actions
  • Will be required to reach above shoulder height and below waist level
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and lifting techniques
