- Performs the duties required in the respective trade discipline daily.
- Assists in the planning and scheduling of the work, including various maintenance programs, capital projects as required.
- Assists in providing support to trades team, contractors and vendors as required.
- Ensures that all Occupational Health and Safety practices and procedures as well as internal protocols and Environmental compliance requirements are followed.
- Participates in the development of objectives and policies and procedures, SOPs; make recommendations for changes and improvements to existing standards, policies and procedures; monitor work activities to ensure compliance.
- Communicates Region standards, policies and procedures and appropriate responses to emergencies.
- Analyze by troubleshooting, all types of their trade related equipment and make recommendations on a course of action for the repair or replacement of equipment.
- Ensure all work complies with safety standards and all applicable regulations.
- Interpret Operating & Maintenance (O&M) manuals, diagrams, schematics, prints and recommend revisions.
- Respond to emergency equipment failures, troubleshoot equipment and diagnose problems, identify needed resources and make repairs or work with contractors to complete work.
- Provide support services to the Region's Engineering group to assist with project implementation and the start-up and commissioning of equipment.
- Maintain good working relationships with all colleagues, customers and contractors through collaboration, communication and application of conflict resolution skills.
- Utilize SAP to record all work performed, source equipment parts, equipment history, and modify and update work status as required.
- Utilize purchase request inventory management system.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Essential
- A valid provincial certificate of qualification in one or more of the following disciplines; Industrial Electrician, Industrial Millwright, or Instrumentation Technician.
- Three to five (3-5) years of practical experience in water/wastewater treatment.
- Experience in completing Preventive and Predictive maintenance activities and optimizing maintenance plans.
- Must be able to interpret equipment manufacturer's schematic drawings and operating and maintenance (O&M) manuals to effectively check equipment installation and repairs and interpret design drawings to validate and provide comments on proposed work.
- Strong working knowledge of SAP.
- Strong written and oral communication skills are required along with problem solving, priority setting, and customer service skills to work effectively in an empowered team environment.
- Must possess a good understanding of safety practices as mandated under the Occupational Health & Safety Act, as well as knowledge of Ministry of Environment and Climate Change regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required as well as working knowledge of SAP PM.
Preferred
- Additional assets include: experience with troubleshooting and formal root cause analysis processes, and experience with inventory management systems to maintain quality of data.
Working Conditions
- A valid Class "G" Ontario driver's license is required.
- Respond to emergencies on a 24-hour basis and/or work a flexible schedule, which may include evenings, weekends, holidays and overtime.
- Participate in the standby rotation and respond to callouts as required.
- The incumbent will be required to drive a Regional vehicle and will be required to provide a copy of their driver's license and a driver's abstract, by their first day of employment.
- Flexibility in working hours will be required. The incumbent must be prepared to work outside of normal working hours and in adverse conditions.
- Participation in paid standby is also required.
- The incumbent must be able to perform all the necessary physical tasks associated with the position including lifting, bending, kneeling, crawling, climbing ladders, working from scaffolding and heights.
