Overview

Vistamere Retirement Residence is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Full-Time Personal Support Worker (PSW) to join our caring team. As a PSW, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care and support to our residents, ensuring they maintain a comfortable and dignified lifestyle. Your efforts will contribute to creating a warm, safe, and inclusive environment that promotes the well-being of each resident.

Responsibilities

  • Personal Care: Assist residents with daily living activities, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting, while respecting their independence and dignity.
  • Mobility Assistance: Support residents with mobility needs, such as transferring, walking, and using mobility aids.
  • Health Monitoring: Observe and report changes in residents' health and behavior to nursing staff and participate in care planning.
  • Emotional Support: Provide companionship and emotional support to residents, fostering a positive and engaging atmosphere.
  • Daily Activities: Assist with organizing and participating in recreational and social activities that enhance residents' quality of life.
  • Communication: Maintain clear and effective communication with residents, their families, and interdisciplinary team members.

Qualifications

  • Prior experience in retirement, assisted living, nursing homes, or home care is preferred
  • Knowledge of senior care, dementia care, medication administration, and working with people with disabilities is highly desirable
  • Compassionate nature with excellent communication skills and patience
  • Ability to perform caregiving duties including light cleaning and meal preparation
  • Certification as a Personal Support Worker (PSW) or equivalent is an asset but not mandatory for all roles
  • Valid work authorization for the region where the position is based
