Position Summary
The Senior Manager, Women's Economic Development leads the strategy, design, and delivery of a portfolio of programs that advance the economic empowerment and leadership of newcomer women, with a focus on equity-deserving and underserved communities. This role provides vision and leadership in expanding access to employment, entrepreneurship, skills development and upskilling training & opportunities for newcomer women. The Senior Manager will work towards sustaining this portfolio, ensuring quality assurance, compliance with funding agreements & organizational policies, while consistently pursuing new opportunities to expand and grow the portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of newcomer women-centered economic development programs.
- Identify emerging needs, trends, and gaps in economic opportunities for women across diverse communities, including Indigenous, racialized, newcomer, 2SLGBTQIA+, and low-income groups.
- Develop innovative, culturally responsive programming that promotes economic independence and long-term stability.
- Build and maintain partnerships with government agencies, community organizations, funders, educational institutions, and private sector collaborators to enhance program impact and reach.
- Represent the organization in sector networks, advocacy coalitions, and working groups related to gender equity and economic inclusion.
- Supervise and mentor a team of program managers, facilitators, and support staff.
- Foster a collaborative, supportive, and inclusive team culture.
- Oversee staff recruitment, onboarding, goal setting, performance management, and professional development.
- Develop outcome frameworks and key performance indicators to measure program success and impact.
- Ensure accurate and timely data collection, analysis, and reporting to internal and external stakeholders, including funders.
- Lead evaluation and continuous improvement efforts based on participant feedback and performance metrics.
- Identify and pursue new funding opportunities (e.g., grants, sponsorships, donations) to sustain and grow The Newcomer Women's Economic Development Portfolio.
- Lead proposals development, reporting, and funder relationship management.
- Ensure programs operate within approved budgets and align with funder requirements.
- Advance policy advocacy initiatives aimed at addressing systemic barriers to women's economic participation.
- Engage in research, storytelling, and campaigns to amplify the voices of program participants and promote inclusive economic policies.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in community development, economics, gender studies, social work, or a related field (Master's degree an asset).
- Minimum 5–7 years of progressive experience in program leadership within a nonprofit or community setting.
- Experience in project management, strategic development, nonprofit leadership, or a related area, preferably in the social impact space.
- Proven experience in program design, evaluation, successful funding proposals and grants, stakeholder engagement, and organizational transformation.
- Management experience in a unionized environment is a strong asset.
- Proven experience working with women's economic development, entrepreneurship, workforce development, or related areas.
- Proven experience in grants management and government proposals.
- Deep understanding of intersectional gender equity, anti-oppression frameworks, and the socio-economic realities facing diverse women in Ontario.
- Strong project management, budgeting, and evaluation skills.
- Exceptional relationship-building, communication, and team leadership abilities.
- Proficiency in a second language relevant to the local community (e.g., French, Arabic, Mandarin, Punjabi) is an asset.
