About UJA Federation of Greater Toronto
At UJA Federation of Greater Toronto, our vision is to lead the most vibrant Jewish community in North America - a community characterized by its diversity, unity, compassion, generosity and commitment to Jewish values. Together with our philanthropic, volunteer and professional leadership, we're changing lives.
As one of North America's leading Jewish non-profits, UJA Federation of Greater Toronto works to preserve and strengthen the quality of Jewish life in Greater Toronto, Canada, Israel and around the world. UJA advances this mission through fundraising, programs, and research focused on our strategic pillars: fighting poverty and improving well-being, growing Jewish education and identity, countering antisemitism and hate, and strengthening connections with Israel and Jewish communities worldwide.
About the Opportunity
The Director, Women's Philanthropy provides strategic leadership for UJA's Women's Philanthropy Division, driving the vision, strategy, and execution for how UJA fundraises and stewards female donors. This senior leader will focus particularly on cultivating and growing giving among women in the high-net-worth space, inspiring generosity and deeper connection to community through UJA.
The Director will lead a team of fundraising professionals, oversee the engagement and fundraising strategy for Women's Philanthropy, and serve as the lead professional partner to the Women's Philanthropy Campaign Cabinet, a dynamic group of volunteer leaders who help shape and advance UJA's women's campaign.
The Director will also manage a portfolio of high-net-worth women and families, securing significant gifts across UJA's Annual Campaign, Transformational Campaigns, and the Jewish Foundation of Greater Toronto.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Strategic Leadership & Growth
- Provide overall vision and strategic direction for Women's Philanthropy at UJA, defining how we engage, fundraise from, and steward women donors.
- Lead the development and implementation of a multi-year growth plan to increase both the number of women giving to UJA and the total dollars raised through the Annual Campaign.
- Develop and execute strategies to grow and strengthen Women's Giving Societies, including the Lion of Judah ($5,000+) and Atarah ($10,000+) levels, while exploring new opportunities to create and expand other giving societies that inspire women's leadership and giving.
- Design and implement innovative initiatives that engage and inspire women across generations to deepen their philanthropic involvement with UJA.
Team Leadership & Management
- Lead, mentor, and support a team of fundraising professionals responsible for cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding women donors.
- Establish clear goals, accountability measures, and performance standards to ensure team success.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, creativity, and excellence aligned with the broader Philanthropic Leadership Group.
Volunteer Leadership & Campaign Partnership
- Serve as the lead professional partner to the Women's Philanthropy Campaign Cabinet, ensuring strong collaboration between professionals and volunteer leaders.
- Partner closely with volunteer fundraisers to enhance their effectiveness—ensuring that volunteer solicitors are assigned appropriate donors, supported with relevant materials, and guided in best practices for outreach and solicitation.
- Build strong relationships with volunteer leaders, empowering them to serve as ambassadors and advocates for UJA's mission and campaign goals.
Donor Portfolio Management
- Manage a personal portfolio of leading women donors and families, securing major philanthropic gifts across Annual, Transformational, and Jewish Foundation giving.
- Cultivate meaningful, long-term relationships through personalized stewardship and engagement opportunities.
- Work collaboratively with senior professionals and volunteers to align donor interests with UJA's strategic priorities and impact areas.
Cross-Organizational Collaboration
- Partner with colleagues across the Philanthropic Leadership Group—including Annual Campaign, Transformational Philanthropy, and Stewardship & Donor Experience—to ensure Women's Philanthropy acts as a robust pipeline for broader donor engagement and leadership.
- Collaborate with Planning, Marketing, and Events teams to design compelling donor experiences, communications, and events that elevate Women's Philanthropy.
- Serve as an inspiring public representative of Women's Philanthropy, speaking at events and gatherings to motivate increased engagement and giving.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 8–10 years of progressive experience in fundraising, community engagement, or philanthropy, with proven success in major gifts or campaign leadership.
- Passionate advocate and visible champion of UJA's mission, values, and goals, inspiring others through action and unwavering commitment to advancing our shared purpose.
- Experience managing and mentoring teams, with a demonstrated ability to achieve strong fundraising results.
- Proven ability to cultivate and solicit gifts in the five-, six-, and seven-figure range.
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, including comfort in public speaking.
- Strategic, innovative, and collaborative mindset with the ability to engage both donors and volunteers effectively.
- Deep understanding of Jewish community life and alignment with UJA's mission and values.
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree or CFRE designation an asset.
