Job Description: We are seeking a motivated and eager Junior Structured Cabling Technician to join our growing team in Ottawa. This entry-level role offers an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the structured cabling industry. You will assist with the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of cabling systems for a variety of commercial and residential clients. Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the installation and termination of structured cabling systems, including Cat 5e, Cat 6, and fiber optics.
  • Help with the troubleshooting and repair of existing cabling systems.
  • Support senior technicians in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Conduct basic testing of cabling systems to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Participate in the preparation and organization of work sites, including laying out cables and equipment.
  • Assist with maintaining tools and equipment in good working condition.
  • Learn and adhere to safety procedures and relevant codes.
  • Provide excellent customer service and communicate professionally with clients.
  • Assist with inventory management and material handling.
  • Collaborate with the team to complete projects efficiently and on time.

Requirements:

  • 1-2 years in structured cabling, electrical work, or a related field is preferred (but not required).
  • Basic knowledge of cabling standards such as Cat 5e, Cat 6, and fiber optics is an asset.
  • Strong willingness to learn and take direction from more experienced technicians.
  • Good problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and stay organized.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in various environments (e.g., confined spaces, heights, etc.).
