YMCA Camping and Outdoor Education offers outdoor experiences that foster personal growth and build community. After taking part in our programs, children and youth return home more confident, independent, and with new friendships. YMCA Camp Pine Crest is an overnight camp serving children, families, and organizations through naturally focused programs that embody the mission, vision, and outcomes of the YMCA. Camp Pine Crest is made up of 650 acres of Muskoka wilderness surrounded by 3 interconnected lakes with 8km of shoreline; has over 26km of hiking trails and 7,500 sq. ft. of dock and has 60 buildings.
The Facilities Staff at Pine Crest plays a key role in maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and functionality of camp facilities, including buildings, trails, and back-lake campsites. This position supports daily operations such as cleaning, landscaping, and minor repairs under supervision. The role also involves assisting with inventory management and contributing to a safe environment by following health and safety procedures. Success in this role requires a hardworking, self-motivated individual who can work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
In this role, you will:
- Restock, clean, and sanitize bathrooms and showers daily
- Perform landscape duties such as grass cutting, weeding, and trail maintenance
- Complete light construction tasks including minor building and equipment repair, painting, and minor plumbing repair under the supervision of the facilities supervisor
- Support inventory management of cleaning and maintenance supplies
- Ensure the safety of all campers and staff by following established health and safety practices and participating in the health and safety committee
- Establish and maintain relationships with campers and staff; support and provide mentorship to others rotating into the facilities team throughout the summer
- Perform other duties as assigned
You bring:
- Standard First Aid & CPR-C required by the first day of employment and valid until at least the last day of your contract
- Experience working in a team environment
- Demonstrated ability to effectively work in a team environment and independently to achieve optimal collective results
- Valid Driver's license considered an asset
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task and be adaptable to change
- Demonstrated organizational skills and detail-oriented
- Excellent communication skills
- Well-developed interpersonal and relationship-building skills; ability to establish rapport and excellent communication with members, staff, and volunteers
- Ability to work flexible hours, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays, required
- 17 years old by December 31, 2025
