YMCA Camping and Outdoor Education offers outdoor experiences that foster personal growth and build community. After taking part in our programs, children and youth return home more confident, independent, and with new friendships. YMCA Camp Pine Crest is an overnight camp serving children, families, and organizations through naturally focused programs that embody the mission, vision, and outcomes of the YMCA. Camp Pine Crest is made up of 650 acres of Muskoka wilderness surrounded by 3 interconnected lakes with 8km of shoreline; has over 26km of hiking trails and 7,500 sq. ft. of dock and has 60 buildings.
The Facilities Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of camp maintenance and cleanliness, ensuring a safe and well-functioning environment for campers and staff. This role provides leadership to the facilities team, manages administrative tasks, and serves as a key point of coordination between departments. Responsibilities include maintaining health and safety standards, supporting inventory control, and supervising minor repairs and landscaping activities.
In this role, you will:
- Supervise facilities staff, including counsellors rotating through the department, to ensure all tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard
- Restock, clean, and sanitize bathrooms and showers daily
- Carry out landscaping duties including grass cutting, weeding, and trail maintenance
- Perform light construction tasks such as minor building and equipment repairs, painting, and minor plumbing repairs
- Ensure the safety of all campers and staff by following established health and safety practices and participating in the health and safety committee
- Build relationships with campers and staff; support and provide mentorship to individuals rotating into the facilities team throughout the summer
- Attend daily staff meetings and training sessions; act as a liaison between the facilities team and the broader staff team by reporting concerns and ensuring timely resolution
- Complete administrative tasks accurately and on time, including performance appraisals, visa reconciliation, and health and safety inspections
- Support inventory management of cleaning and maintenance supplies
- Perform other duties as assigned
You bring:
- Standard First Aid & CPR "C" certification required by the first day of camp and valid until the last day of the contract
- Minimum 2 years' experience working at a camp or outdoor centre, ideally in a facilities role
- Experience in a leadership role or supervising staff or volunteers is preferred
- Valid Driver's Licence required
- Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task and adapt to change
- Excellent communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently to achieve optimal collective results
- Ability to work flexible hours, including days, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays required
