Overview
Wright Henry LLP is a boutique labour and employment law firm founded in 2019. We are seeking an experienced and skilled law clerk/paralegal to join our firm. The ideal candidate will have between five and ten years' experience as a law clerk/paralegal, preferably having previously worked at a labour and employment law firm. Experience in civil enforcement and construction liens is preferred. The law clerk/paralegal will work closely with all firm members on a wide variety of matters, including complex grievance arbitrations, applications before labour relations boards, and in civil litigation. Familiarity with e-discovery software, document management software and legal research platforms are an asset. We seek a candidate with extensive experience with all manner of corporate and execution searches, and with all stages of court proceedings, and who possesses the ability to work both independently and cooperatively. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional legal drafting skills, along with a strong understanding of the
Rules of Civil Procedure
and experience with modern Ontario court platforms, including CaseLines and the Justice Services Online (JSO) portal. Additionally, candidates should be detail-oriented and software savvy as our office operates on a paperless basis.

Duties

  • Oversee and organize complex litigation files, ensuring all documentation is accurate and timelines are strictly followed.
  • Draft, review, and revise legal documents including pleadings, motions, garnishments, writs and correspondence with precision and clarity.
  • Manage electronic filings via the JSO portal and organize digital hearing bundles for CaseLines.
  • Assist in preparing discovery requests, responses, and manage document review processes.
  • Prepare and register liens under the Construction Act.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of five years' experience as a civil litigation law clerk or paralegal.
  • Demonstrated expertise in legal drafting, document review, and case analysis skills.
  • Familiarity with litigation procedures, court rules, and document management systems.
  • Excellent writing skills with the ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly and effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
  • Experience in civil enforcement proceedings and construction liens is considered a strong asset.

Expected Compensation
The expected compensation for this role is an annualized base salary $75,000 to $95,000. This range reflects the expected range for new hire salaries and is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
