Job summary

The Technical Assistant, Cultivation - Flower Room, is pivotal in overseeing cannabis plant care during the flowering stage. This role involves leading a team to maintain, monitor, and nurture plants, ensuring optimal growth conditions and contributing to the production of premium-quality cannabis flowers.

Major Responsibilities / Duties:

  • Participate in the continuous scouting and monitoring of the crop for health, pest and diseases.
  • Release biological control agents (BCA's) as part of the Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program.
  • Communicate and escalate all issues with the crop and/or the production process to all the relevant parties as required.
  • Participate in cultivation related activities such as pruning, defoliating, crop maintenance, harvesting and cycle turnover as required.
  • Where applicable, must adhere to Aurora's SOPs and comply with Health Canada's Cannabis Act. In addition, must adhere to all ISO requirements and the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA)
  • Where applicable, promote and maintain GMP requirements.
  • Recognize unsafe conditions and practices and make corrections to prevent injuries and product loss.
  • Other duties as required.
  • Ability to perform tasks in warm environments under direct illumination from grow lights, while consistently adhering to the use of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Demonstrate adaptability as a team leader, leveraging skills to inspire and guide the team in completing tasks safely, efficiently, and on time.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Basic understanding of plant cultivation techniques, particularly in the flowering stage.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions for plant care and maintenance.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate well with colleagues.
  • Basic knowledge of cannabis cultivation practices and compliance regulations is beneficial.

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Additional coursework or certification in horticulture or related fields is an asset.
  • Grower Pesticide Safety Course completed would be an asset.
  • Prior experience in cultivation, agriculture, horticulture, or related roles is preferred.
  • Familiarity with cannabis cultivation practices and compliance requirements is a plus.

This role is in one of Aurora's Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) certified plants and works directly with products. Towards the end of the recruitment process, we require that you undergo a medical screening exam with our third-party vendor.
