Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada MONARCH CLEANING Full time

Monarch Cleaning is committed to delivering high-quality cleaning services with a focus on safety, professionalism, and respect for our clients'. We foster a supportive team environment where every member is valued and encouraged to grow.

Role Overview

As a Post-Construction Cleaner, you will play a key role in performing detailed final cleans after construction, renovation, or build projects. You'll help prepare homes, offices, and commercial spaces for immediate occupancy by removing construction dust, debris, residues, and ensuring every surface is pristine. You'll work independently or as part of a small team, following specialized post-construction protocols and strict safety procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform thorough post-construction cleaning tasks, including high-dusting (ceilings, fans, light fixtures, vents, crown molding), removing fine construction dust (drywall, sawdust, etc.), sweeping, vacuuming (with HEPA filters where needed), mopping floors, and sanitizing all surfaces.
  • Handle debris removal: collect and dispose of leftover construction scraps, packaging, (following proper disposal guidelines).
  • Clean and detail fixtures: wipe down windows (interior/exterior), mirrors, doors, frames, baseboards, cabinets, countertops, appliances, sinks, toilets, showers/tubs, and remove paint splatter, adhesives, stickers, or caulk residue using appropriate tools (e.g., scrapers, solvents).
  • Follow site-specific post-construction checklists, including rough clean phases and final/detail clean phases.
  • Use appropriate personal protective equipment and specialized cleaning products safely, especially when dealing with fine dust or chemicals.
  • Report any maintenance issues, damage, or safety concerns (e.g., unfinished work, hazards) to your supervisor.
  • Maintain a respectful and professional demeanor at all times, especially when working in client-occupied or high-end properties.

Qualifications

  • Previous cleaning experience preferred, especially in post-construction, renovation, or deep cleaning (experience with heavy dust/debris is a strong asset).
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively on variable job sites, and handle physically demanding tasks (lifting, bending, extended periods on feet).
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality—ensuring no dust or residue is left behind.
  • Reliable transportation to job site.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
  • Comfortable wearing PPE and working in dusty or unfinished environments initially.

What We Offer

  • Flexible scheduling to accommodate your availability (jobs often scheduled around construction timelines).
  • Supportive team culture with opportunities for growth (e.g., advancing to lead cleaner or supervisor roles).
  • Comprehensive training provided for all new hires, including post-construction techniques, safety protocols, and use of specialized tools/products.
  • Safe and respectful work environment with emphasis on proper PPE and hazard awareness.
