The Equipment Maintenance Coordinator is responsible for the effective implementation of the Michels Canada Preventive Maintenance program and for providing rapid response to field calls regarding equipment breakdowns or inoperability. Reporting to the Equipment Manager, this role ensures that equipment across all job sites is properly maintained, minimizing downtime and ensuring operational efficiency. The coordinator acts as the primary point of contact between the field and the equipment management team, providing troubleshooting support and coordinating repairs.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the execution of the Michels Canada Preventive Maintenance program, ensuring that all fleet and construction equipment is regularly serviced and maintained according to the established schedule.
- Coordinate with equipment operators, mechanics, and project teams to ensure timely maintenance without disrupting project timelines.
- Maintain detailed maintenance records, tracking service intervals, repairs, and equipment performance to ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for equipment operators and field teams when equipment becomes inoperable or breaks down.
- Respond promptly to field calls, providing troubleshooting support to diagnose equipment issues and coordinating immediate repairs to minimize downtime.
- Communicate breakdowns and repair needs to mechanics, ensuring that resources are allocated efficiently to resolve issues quickly.
- Maintain a log of all field calls, tracking issues and resolutions to improve future response times and prevent recurring problems.
- Schedule and coordinate repairs, both in-house and through third-party service providers, ensuring timely and cost-effective solutions.
- Monitor the availability of mechanics, parts, and tools to ensure that repairs can be executed quickly and efficiently.
- Work closely with the Equipment Manager to prioritize equipment repairs based on project urgency and equipment utilization needs.
- Keep the Equipment Manager informed of all major equipment issues, repairs, and maintenance activities.
- Provide regular updates on the status of equipment in the field, including maintenance schedules, completed repairs, and outstanding service needs.
- Assist in preparing reports on equipment performance and maintenance activities for review by senior management.
- Liaise with parts suppliers and service vendors to ensure timely delivery of parts and services required for repairs and maintenance.
- Maintain relationships with vendors, negotiating favorable terms that align with the company's operational and financial goals.
- Ensure that all preventive maintenance and repair activities are conducted in accordance with safety standards and company protocols.
- Stay up to date with local regulations and industry best practices to ensure all maintenance practices meet compliance requirements.
- Conduct safety inspections of equipment during and after repairs to ensure it is fully operational and safe for use in the field.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5- years of experience in a similar role.
- Experience in working with suppliers.
- Demonstrated organizational skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Programs.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
