Duration Approximately Six (6) Months

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in Therapeutic Recreation required, consideration will be given to candidates with diploma in Recreation Therapy with relevant and current related experience
  • 2-4 years recent experience (within the last 2-3 years) in hospital/institutional setting required
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers (HCP) Certification required (recent within the last twelve months)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with all members of the health team required
  • Recent experience (within the last 2-3 years) in an Acute/Rehab setting
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, organize, implement and evaluate therapeutic recreation and leisure programs designed to meet the clinical needs of patients by focusing on development/acquisition of leisure related skills and attitudes required
  • Experience adapting therapy for clients with disabilities / impairments required
  • Must be able to work independently, organize daily activities, and be flexible and resourceful
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct comprehensive patient assessments required
  • Ability to facilitate group and individual programming that is constructive and enjoyable for a broad range of patient ages and ability
  • Physical ability to transfer and assist patients with physical impairments required
  • Computer skills/knowledge required
  • Good attendance and work record required
  • Must demonstrate commitment to ensure your safety, the safety of fellow workers, patients, volunteers, and visitors
  • Must support and contribute to a culture of safety and prevention of adverse health events in this organization
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is required.
