Key Labourer

Cobble Beach is Georgian Bay's extraordinary waterfront golf resort community. The prestigious community has been designed as a four-season resort, with a selection of amenities embracing the Georgian Bay environment. Cobble Beach Golf Links is a world class golf facility designed by Doug Carrick that opened in 2007. Since then, the community has grown with dozens of homes built, townhouses, US Open tennis courts, plunge pool, 300 ft dock and 18 km of trails. We are looking for an individual to join our turf department team as a key labourer. This will be a year-round position with full time hours throughout the summer and the winter months. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to work hard, learn and join a dedicated team.

Duties and Responsibilities

Winter duties include:

· Plow/salt roads and driveways with trucks, skid steer and tractors

· Shovel Cobble Beach walkways as well as condo walk areas

· Groom and pack ski trails as required

· Help the mechanic with minor equipment maintenance

· Refurbish/construct course furniture and hardware

Summer duties include:

· General labour duties on course as well as parks, buildings and other property landscapes

· Extensive heavy/light equipment operation in a safe manner

· Assist in maintaining the irrigation system and fulfilling water requirements

· Learn and aid in agronomic practices throughout the golf course

· Lead small crews in the completion of minor golf course or landscape projects

· Make recommendations to the Superintendent/Assistant on the daily condition of the golf course

· Keep shop/equipment clean and to Cobble Beach operating standards

Qualifications

· The successful candidate will have a professional and positive attitude and be committed to a supporting a culture of continuous improvement and learning

· Motivated problem solver with a desire to succeed

· A confident person who has proven leadership qualities

· Excellent communication skills – written, oral and listening

· Previous golf course or property maintenance experience is an asset, but not a requirement

· Detail-oriented and able to work with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency

· Can meet the physical demands of the job

· CSA Approved steel toe work shoes/boots

· Some experience with skidsteers, loaders, 4x4 trucks, salters and tractors

· Knowledge of winter operations

· Valid Ontario G Licence.

Working conditions

This is an outside position, in variable weather conditions. You will be scheduled to work early mornings, some weekends and some statutory holidays.

Physical requirements

This person must be able to move quickly, be on their feet for the duration of their shift, and lift upwards of 50 lbs.

Compensation

· $18.00 -$23.00/hr. based on experience
