Our Firm has an opening for a Staff Accountant (Supervisor), US Tax to join our team
. The position details are as follows
:

  • Status: Full-Time, Permanent
  • Office Location: Burlington
  • Salary Range: $98,500 – $109,000
  • Additional Compensation Info: Up to 5% bonus based on specific metrics
  • Reason for Hire: New Position

Reporting to Partners and Managers, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing exceptional planning and advice on cross-border structures and compliance
  • Being a key contributor to the growth of a new US Tax group, and contributing to tax planning and client management initiatives
  • Providing both technical and project management support on U.S. Personal and Corporate Tax projects
  • Researching, interpreting tax legislation, formulating solutions, and providing suggestions
  • Prompt identification of significant issues for discussion with the Manager and/or Tax Partner, along with recommendations. Discuss matters with the Assurance Partner, if required
  • Preparing client correspondence, including reports, discussion of technical issues and recommendations
  • Preparing all types of US tax returns
  • Acting in the capacity of a coach to specific US tax staff, providing support and development, if deemed appropriate
  • Assistance to other offices of the Firm as required
  • Additional responsibilities as required to support Firm objectives

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Graduate of a University Accounting Program, or equivalent
  • US Certified Public Accountant and/or Canadian Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) Designation
  • 1-2 years post-designation experience in a public accounting Firm
  • 3-5 years of work experience with US Taxation
  • Strong knowledge of US tax legislation, including personal and corporate tax regulations
  • Thorough understanding of the Internal Revenue Code
  • Knowledge of CaseWare, CaseView, Taxprep and Microsoft Office programs, an asset
