Position Overview

Our client is a leading Canadian for-profit healthcare provider. National in scope with a significant growth trajectory, they are seeking a Director, Finance to join their growing Finance team. Reporting to the Vice President, Controller, this role will oversee all aspects of financial accounting processes, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of accounting principles, excellent leadership skills, and a proven track record of success in financial management within multi-entity organizations. This is a great opportunity for a CPA to own both financial and management reporting in a fast growing and highly acquisitive company and partner with senior stakeholders to drive decision-making.

Role Responsibilities

  • Oversee preparation and accuracy of monthly, quarterly and annual financial & performance reporting.
  • Lead and mentor a team of 5, fostering a culture of high performance, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Review and/or prepare financial statements for year-end audit, legal entity reporting or other reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate with finance departments (accounts payable, accounts receivable, corporate accounting, tax and other operational teams) to oversee the effective, accurate and timely close of period-ends and create scale and efficiency in managing the accounting close process with a proactive approach by addressing issues at their root cause.
  • Represent Finance in collaboration and problem-solving scenarios with leadership members of various internal client groups, including operations and acquisitions integration.
  • Lead transformational projects, participate in strategic group initiatives, and oversee projects led by your direct reports to contribute to the new finance center.
  • Implement best practices to streamline financial processes and enhance overall productivity by identifying opportunities for automation, process improvement and efficiency gains within the accounting function.
  • Support banking, filing of sales tax returns, preparation of balance sheet reconciliations and review.

Desired Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience with 3+ years of experience in a managerial or leadership role.
  • A CPA (or equivalent) with a Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Outcome-focused, critical thinker with the ability to analyze and visualize to ensure continuous improvement across our business.
  • Successful track record working in team environments with proven ability to act as a business partner and cross-functional team player.
  • A strong knowledge of ASPE/IFRS and internal controls over financial reporting.
  • Excellent ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple competing priorities, while meeting all deadlines.
  • Proficiency in NetSuite and SmartView is preferred.
