We are currently seeking an experienced Property Accountant (Contractor) to support our growing portfolio. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting professional who enjoys working closely with operations, has strong property accounting fundamentals, and values flexibility while contributing to a stable, well-established organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements for a portfolio of residential properties
  • Provide financial and analytical support to Property Managers
  • Clearly communicate financial information to Management
  • Prepare GST/HST returns and Non-Resident Tax forms
  • Prepare and input annual budget figures into the accounting system, ensuring accuracy
  • Complete bank reconciliations
  • Review narrative components of monthly reports for accuracy and consistency
  • Prepare monthly owner distributions using cash-flow spreadsheets
  • Support year-end audit compilation and reviews
  • Perform other accounting and reporting duties as assigned

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have (or be working toward):

  • An accounting designation (CPA or in progress preferred)
  • 1–3 years of accounting experience, ideally in property accounting
  • Strong analytical and accounting skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an approachable, professional manner
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet deadlines
  • Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, reconciliations, financial analysis)
  • Experience with Yardi is a strong asset
