Director of Software Engineering (Head Builder)

Location: Cambridge, ON (In-Office Only)

About the Role

We're not hiring a line coder or a maintenance manager. We're hiring a builder-operator who's architected, shipped, and scaled production platforms that served real customers and generated real revenue. If your portfolio is internal dashboards or unfinished prototypes, skip this one. If you've built customer-facing products that moved money, scaled usage, and solved hard problems—you'll have the keys to rebuild the entire Cash 4 You platform from the ground up.

You'll:

  • Architect and own the Evolve OS platform (TypeScript, .NET, Kafka, PostgreSQL)—a real, revenue-driving product, not an internal tool.
  • Build, ship, and operate technology that powers thousands of live customers across retail and online channels.
  • Design and deploy event-driven services, APIs, and integrations that connect lending, analytics, and compliance.
  • Run the full SDLC: GitLab CI/CD, QA automation, and production release.
  • Work directly with the Founder to translate business logic, product strategy, and user experience into shipped software.
  • Own the technical decisions that create leverage, speed, and profitability.

You Are:

  • A hands-on builder/architect with 8 + years leading end-to-end product delivery—not just participating, but owning it.
  • Able to point to customer-facing platforms you've built that operated at real commercial scale—serving thousands of daily users and generating meaningful revenue, not internal tools or prototypes.
  • Fluent across architecture, data, infrastructure, and product trade-offs—and you like wearing all those hats.
  • Comfortable leading a tight team while still writing real code every week.
  • Product-minded, execution-driven, and ruthless about technical debt, uptime, and velocity.
  • Business-literate—you can discuss your product's impact in dollars, not just milliseconds.
