Position Summary

As a Site Superintendent, Construction, you will be responsible for managing all day-to-day construction site activities for residential, mixed-use and multiplex developments – ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget and to the company's quality standards.  You will coordinate all field operations, direct subcontractors and uphold best practices in safety, quality control and efficiency.

You will work closely with Project and Construction Managers and consultants to ensure that every phase – from excavation to occupancy – is executed with precision, integrity and attention to detail.  Your leadership sets the tone on site, fostering collaboration, safety, and excellence in every build.

Core Duties & Responsibilities

Site Management & Execution

  • Lead all on-site construction activities from mobilization through to final occupancy.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of residential, mixed-use, and multiplex projects, including wood frame, concrete and hybrid construction types.
  • Develop, maintain and execute the site construction schedule in coordination with the Project Managers.
  • Ensure site logistics, material deliveries, and trade sequencing are optimized for efficiency and minimal downtime.
  • Coordinate with municipal inspectors, engineers and consultants to ensure compliance with building codes and approvals.
  • Conduct regular site walks to monitor quality, workmanship and adherence to design specifications.
  • Manage documentation, daily reports and deficiency tracking to maintain organized, transparent records.

Safety Leadership

  • Champion a zero-incident safety culture on site.
  • Enforce compliance with WorkSafeBC safety standards and company policies.
  • Conduct daily safety meetings, inspections and hazard assessments.
  • Ensure all personnel and subcontractors are trained and equipped to perform their work safely.
  • Investigate and document and safety incidents or near misses, implementing corrective actions promptly.

Quality Control

  • Maintain high standards of construction quality across all phases of the project.
  • Review and interpret construction drawings, shop drawings, and specifications to ensure clarity and accuracy.
  • Identify and resolve design or constructability issues in collaboration with consultants and project management.
  • Implement and maintain quality assurance/quality control checklists and procedures.
  • Oversee mock-ups, inspections and sign-offs to verify that workmanship meets design intent and company standards.

Coordination & Leadership

  • Direct and coordinate the work of subcontractors, ensuring proper sequencing, scope alignment, and quality performance.
  • Communicate clearly with trades, site staff, and the project team to align expectations and maintain accountability.
  • Liaise with project management to forecast resourcing requirements, material and equipment needs.
  • Support project meetings, schedule reviews, and progress updates with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Mentor Assistant Site Superintendents and other site staff, fostering a culture of professional growth and collaboration.

Schedule & Budget Oversight

  • Maintain project milestones and critical path schedules.
  • Track daily progress and report potential schedule impacts promptly.
  • Work with project management to manage change orders, site directives and cost control.
  • Ensure efficient use of resources to maintain budgetary discipline while protecting quality standards.
  • Anticipate issues and proactively implement solutions to minimize delays or cost overruns.

Client & Stakeholder Relations

  • Represent the company professionally in all interactions with clients, consultants and the community.
  • Support project handovers, deficiency reviews and client walk-throughs.
  • Ensure all site activities reflect the company's brand values of craftsmanship, safety and reliability.

Who You Are

You are a seasoned construction professional and natural leader who thrives in a fast-paced site environment.  You have a deep understanding of how to bring complex building projects to life – from excavation through to occupancy – and take ownership of every detail that contributes to a successful build.  You lead with integrity, communicate with clarity, and create a positive culture of safety, accountability and excellence on your sites.

You approach challenges with a solutions-oriented mindset, anticipating problems before they arise.  You are skilled in prioritizing tasks and managing competing site demands without losing sight of overall goals.  You enjoy mentoring junior site staff and supporting their professional growth and development.  You lead by example through your work ethic and commitment to quality.

In addition to these qualities, you possess:

  • 7 - 10 years of residential and commercial construction experience, with at least 3 - 5 years in a supervisory or site leadership role.
  • Diploma or degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or related field.  Gold Seal Certification or equivalent is an asset.  Valid safety certifications (First Aid, WHMIS, Fall Protection, etc.) required.
  • Deep understanding of building codes, construction sequencing, architectural and structural drawings, and site safety regulations.
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate site teams, build positive relationships with trades, and maintain accountability on timelines and workmanship.
  • Proficiency in project management software (Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project).
  • Valid drivers licence and ability to travel to project sites as required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and fluency in English.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Adaptable and flexible, able to work in a fast paced environment, both independently and as part of a larger team.
  • Solutions oriented approach with superior time management, multitasking and prioritization abilities.
  • Eligible to work in Canada (Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident or valid working visa) required.
  • Knowledge of the Vancouver real estate market and/or coworking is an asset.

Total Compensation Package

  • Base Annual Compensation, with a range of $120,000 - $140,000. depending on experience and qualifications.
