5Blue Process Equipment is a fabrication shop located in Nisku, Alberta, specializing in Modularized Production Equipment & Pressure Vessel Packaged skids, complete with instrumentation and piping for the Oil & Gas industry.

We are currently seeking experienced CWB Structual Welders (Apprentice & Journeyman).

The role of the Welder encompasses many activities including but not limited to:

  • Reading and interpreting blueprints and welding process specifications;
  • Operating manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments using processes such as gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), gas metal arc welding (GMAW), flux-cored arc welding (FCAW), metal-cored arc welding (MCAW), shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), and submerged arc welding (SAW);
  • Operating flame-cutting equipment;
  • Operating metal-shaping machines such as iron workers, drill presses, and other metal straightening and bending machines;
  • Repairing worn parts of metal products by welding on extra layers;
  • Removing metal and/or preparing materials for welding by gouging and grinding;
  • Ensuring all welding equipment is clean and functional;
  • Assisting with the maintenance and repair of welding equipment;
  • Layout on vessels and piping;
  • Standing for long periods of time. Lifting light to moderate weights;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualification and Skills

  • Valid CWB Certification
  • Enrolled or participant in the welder apprenticeship program.
  • Completed weld testing for SMAW and MCAW / FCAW Carbon Steel
  • Valid government-issued photo identification
  • Valid CSTS'09 and WHMIS 2015
  • Excellent blueprint reading capability
  • Proficiency in English, both verbally and written
  • Strong commitment to safety.
  • Self-motivated, organized and able to work in high pressure deadline driven environment.
