The HR Business Partner provides support, direction and consultation to leaders on Human Resources issues. This is a key service delivery role for an experienced HR professional who has a strong generalist background and has demonstrated success in initiating and supporting corporate HR strategic initiatives. This role will give you the opportunity to demonstrate your facilitation, influencing and negotiating skills as well bring your technical experience in employee/labour relations, talent management, workforce planning, organizational design, change management and building organizational capability.

Reporting to the Manager, HR Business Partners, and as part of a dynamic team of Business Partners, you will provide a full complement of HR services as an HR Business Partner to a client group of leaders. You will be instrumental in championing corporate HR strategies and initiatives with your client group while ensuring compliance with hospital policies and applicable legislation.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead the effective delivery of HR advice and counsel to leaders within your client group, including employee/labour relations, organizational design, workforce planning and talent management.
  • Act as trusted advisor to leaders on HR related matters, supporting the execution of daily operations while aligning with the strategic corporate plan.
  • Coordinate and align the delivery of HR functional services within your client group to ensure value creation. Communicate effectively with HR functional centres regarding the effectiveness of HR programs and initiatives.
  • Within the assigned client group, advise leaders on aligning business objectives with best practice Human Resources, supporting the achievement of business outcomes and providing advice and guidance on complex HR matters.
  • Advise, counsel, and leaders on human resources related operational issues such as Investigations, Performance Development, Attendance Management, Return to Workplace and Accommodation, Recruitment & Selection, Workforce Planning and Human Resources Initiatives to ensure consistency of practice.
  • Lead and/or support workplace investigations and support leaders as a key decision maker on outcomes.
  • Plan, coordinate/guide and evaluate the execution of HR strategy within the assigned client group
  • Ensure the effective implementation of HR programs developed through Talent Management with the client group
  • Champion and promote organization values and the Values Based Code of Conduct through a well-developed consultative, influencing approach with leaders, managers, employees and physicians.
     

1. Undergraduate degree in HR or related field.

2. Post-graduate Diploma or Certificate in Human Resources Management.

3. Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) and/or Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) an asset.

years of generalist experience in HR, preferably in a unionized and/or hospital environment 

5. Sound knowledge of employment law including Ontario Human Rights Code, Employment Standards Act, Ontario Labour Relations Act, and the proven ability to provide advice to clients on the application

6. Experience in consulting and advising leaders on organizational development initiatives, talent management, employee/labour relations and change management

7. Proven ability to interface effectively with senior leaders.

8. Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to make recommendations to leadership,  and influence decision based on thorough analysis.

9. Detail oriented with the ability to handle competing priorities

10. Able to remain flexible and adaptable in a complex and changing work environment

11. Demonstrated problem-solving, conflict resolution, negotiation, and decision making skills

12. Tact, diplomacy, mature judgement and ability to take action and display initiative
