4.5 hours, 7.5 hours & 11.25 hours per shift (subject to change)
WAGE RANGE:
Scale Minimum Maximum
NONU $27.68/hr $33.55/hr
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operate variety of communication channels including multi-line hospital switchboard, paging system, and public address to connect calls and direct them to appropriate healthcare providers and departments.
- Provide reception services and respond to patient, family, and visitor inquiries using knowledge of the hospital and its departments; addressing and resolving client complaints and where necessary escalate these complaints as required
- Act as the first point of contact for hospital emergencies (e.g., panic alarms, 911 calls, security issues) and initiate appropriate emergency protocols and codes.
- Maintain communication logs, update on-call lists, and manage paging requests, ensuring accurate communication with hospital staff and physicians
- Demonstrate QCH values: collaboration, accountability, innovation, respect
- Other duties as operationally required
REQUIREMENTS:
- Grade 12 education
- 6 months related experience
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Microsoft Outlook and Meditech
- Strong client service skills
PREFERED:
- 1 – 2 years of experience in a healthcare environment
- Experience operating a switchboard
