Class 1/3 Dump Truck Driver Position Overview

Westshore Trucking and Excavating is seeking experienced Class 1 or Class 3 gravel truck drivers to join our growing aggregate hauling division. The successful candidates will operate a variety of equipment including truck and transfer boxes, truck and quad trailer, tandem trucks, and slingers to transport aggregates throughout the region.

Employment Details

Position Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Schedule: Monday to Saturday, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Compensation: Competitive hourly rate (commensurate with experience)

Reports To: Dispatcher / Operations Manager

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate dump trucks with or without trailers for aggregate hauling.

  • Transport gravel, sand, and other aggregates between material depots, job sites, and concrete plants

  • Complete thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections daily and document findings

  • Submit accurate daily timecards and load tickets as required

  • Maintain compliance with all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies

  • Communicate effectively with dispatch regarding schedules, delays, and delivery requirements

  • Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with team members and site supervisors

  • Ensure loads are properly secured and transported in accordance with weight regulations

  • Report any mechanical issues, accidents, or safety concerns immediately

  • Maintain a clean and professional appearance of assigned vehicle(s)

Qualifications

  • Valid Class 1 or Class 3 driver's license in good standing

  • Minimum 2 years of experience operating gravel/dump trucks (transfer, quad, tandem, or slinger experience preferred)

  • Clean driver's abstract with no major infractions

  • Strong knowledge of weight regulations and load securement requirements

  • Ability to perform basic pre/post-trip inspections and identify mechanical issues

  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently

  • Strong communication skills and professional demeanor

  • Physically capable of climbing in/out of trucks, tarping loads, and performing job-related tasks

Assets (Preferred)

  • First Aid certification

  • Experience with GPS tracking systems and e-tickets.
