About the Role:

We are a well-funded startup developing advanced security and utility drones in the military

domain. We are building a next-generation 3D drone simulator in Unreal Engine, leveraging

AirSim as the physics foundation. This simulator will serve as a core platform for AI agent

training, flight replay, and system testing—bridging real-world flight data with virtual drone

environments.

You will be responsible for designing and developing the simulation architecture, integrating real

drone flight logs, and enabling the interface between AI models and simulated flight control. This

is an exciting opportunity to join a growing team and take ownership of projects that will directly

shape our simulation and AI development pipeline.

Responsibilities

Simulation Development

  • Build a high-fidelity 3D drone simulator in Unreal Engine using AirSim as the underlying

physics engine.

  • evelop tools for loading and visualizing real drone flight logs, including data parsing

and replay functionality.

  • Implement 3D geometry, motion visualization, and scene management features.

  • Design a user interface for replay, visualization, and control of simulation sessions.

Integration and AI Interface

  • Integrate with AI control agents to enable real-time simulation control and testing.

  • Implement communication layers such as Protobuf over ZMQ, TCP, or sockets for

streaming or replaying drone state data.

  • Support testing pipelines by running agents or algorithms in the simulated environment

for verification and performance analysis.

Collaboration and Tools

  • Collaborate with the flight control and AI teams to ensure simulation fidelity and data

compatibility.

  • Work with Linux-based systems and scripting (Bash) to pipe data between applications.

  • Use GitHub for source control and code collaboration.

Requirements

  • Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience with C++, especially in Unreal Engine.
  • Strong understanding of 3D simulation, physics, and motion systems.
  • Experience working with TCP/IP and socket-based communication.
  • Familiarity with GitHub workflows and version control.
  • Ability to parse and handle structured data formats such as Protobuf, JSON, or CSV.
  • Python experience for integration scripts or data handling.
  • Comfortable with Linux command-line tools and Bash scripting.

Bonus Skills

  • Experience with ArduPilot or other flight controller stacks.
  • Background in drone operation or tuning.
  • Familiarity with AI model integration or reinforcement learning in simulation.
  • Knowledge of Unreal Engine plugin development and AirSim customization.
  • Experience with networked simulations or distributed control systems.
