About Us
African Nova Scotian Affairs works with government, communities and partners to help provide services and programs for the African Nova Scotian community. We work within the community to keep African Nova Scotians informed and to encourage involvement. We also support activities that bring African Nova Scotians together to network, share ideas and identify opportunities for development and growth.

African Nova Scotian Affairs is a division of the Department of Communities, Culture, Tourism and Heritage.

The Land Titles Initiative is a program created to address the historical wrong whereby African Nova Scotian settlers were not granted clear legal documentation of land ownership, resulting in economic disadvantage for the African Nova Scotians who have descended from those settlers. The LTI resolves land title issues within the historic African Nova Scotian communities of East Preston, North Preston, Cherry Brook/Lake Loon, Lincolnville and Sunnyville in an accessible manner that respects their cultural traditions and practices.

About Our Opportunity
Encouraging cultural expressions brings life to our communities. Nova Scotia's culture and heritage contribute to vibrant communities and enrich the quality of life in every part of the province. By exploring our past, we appreciate where we came from. This enriches our lives today and gives us insight for times ahead.

For generations, many residents in African Nova Scotian communities have faced barriers to getting clear title to the land they live on. The Government of Nova Scotia is committed towards helping residents in African Nova Scotian communities get clear title in line with its mandate of promoting understanding of diverse cultures as a tool for capacity building and development. Through investing in our future, we help realize the potential of our people and talents.

Do you care deeply, genuinely and passionately about bringing life to our communities, with a focus on the African Nova Scotia community? Do you want to work for a department that helps Nova Scotians realize their talents and potentials through the creation of an environment that embraces ideas and innovation? Are you passionate about the diversity agenda as a tool to grow our Economy? If you have answered yes to these questions, we would love to talk to you
