Overview
- Salary: $75K-$90K, based on experience and qualifications.
- Start date: As soon as possible. Applications will be considered on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
- Hybrid work: Tuesdays and Thursdays our team works in-office.
- Working hours: 9:00am-5:30pm EST
- Paid vacation: 20 days of paid time off, including 15 vacation days and 5 days of office closure, (typically over Christmas and New Year's).

The Role
We are looking for a highly organized, strategic and creative Content & Communications Lead to manage the development of high-impact media and communications content. This role is ideal for someone who combines strong writing, project management and communications expertise with the ability to transform complex content into clear, creative direction—grounded in a solid understanding of media production workflows.
This position focuses on leading creative development and ensuring projects are designed from the outset to meet conceptual and creative goals within scope.
The Content & Communications Lead will report to the Executive Producer and Strategic Operations Manager and collaborate closely with internal teams, clients and external production partners.
Key Responsibilities:
Project, Account & People Management
- Manage project scope, timeline, scheduling and resourcing to ensure projects stay on track.
- Guide project teams from kickoff to delivery, providing guidance, resources and feedback to ensure streamlined execution.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, expertly balancing client needs with agency goals.
- Support, mentor, and manage the performance of direct reports, if assigned.
- Collaborate with other leads as well as research, product, digital learning and marketing teams on cross-functional projects.
Content Writing & Media Conceptualization
- Lead the development of creative concepts, content strategies and communications plans for a variety of formats with outputs including pitch decks, proposals and visual concepts.
- Produce written content for various video formats, including live-action video, animation, web, print and mixed-format productions.
- Conduct visual and story research to support media-driven projects.
- Review and edit creative and technical written content developed by internal and external team members, ensuring high-quality outputs.
- Ensure all written content aligns with strategic objectives and effectively communicates with and engages target audiences.
Post-Production Supervision
- Alongside other leads and team members, oversee post-production workflows for live-action, animation, and mixed-format media projects.
- Provide creative direction and oversee the editing process to ensure narrative cohesion, visual quality, and alignment with project messaging and tone.
- Review and approve rough cuts, and final outputs to ensure storytelling clarity and audience impact.
- Maintain quality assurance processes to ensure all media deliverables meet technical and creative standards.
Live-Action Production
- Produce live-action video shoots, ensuring content capture aligns with storytelling and messaging objectives.
- Activate and brief film crews & other production personnel.
- Conduct participant interviews as needed.
- Collaborate with other team members on stylistic approaches to filming to maintain consistency to achieve project goals.
- Help resolve creative or narrative challenges on set to ensure smooth production and high-quality deliverables.

What You Bring to the Table
Background:
- 5-7 years of experience in communications, media production, journalism, marketing, writing, or adjacent fields with at least 2 years experience in an agency environment.
- 2+ years of leadership or management experience.

- Leadership & Innovation: Leads project teams and manages assigned projects effectively with limited oversight; promotes effective adoption of AI/new tools among direct reports; demonstrates a growth mindset with an eagerness to learn and innovate.
- Accountability & Integrity: Accountable for projects' successful planning and implementation; holds direct reports (if any) and project team members accountable for quality and behaviour.
- Communication & Collaboration: Communicates effectively across stakeholders; manages client communications and relationships with support of senior management/executives.
- Planning & Organization: Creates clear, effective and efficient project planning documents (roadmaps, plans, workflows); ensures own and team's adherence to scope and timelines.
Core Creative and Technical Skills and Tools:
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with experience in scriptwriting, creative storytelling, and content development.
- Excellent attention to detail in written, visual and video outputs.
- Demonstrated strategic problem-solving skills, with an ability to anticipate and mitigate issues in complex projects involving multidisciplinary teams.
- Familiarity and interest in the use of AI in writing and the creative industries would be a strong asset.
- A strong eye for aesthetics and brand consistency, ensuring high-quality media output.
- Strong understanding of media production workflows.
- Interested in media content that educates, makes an impact, and/or is data-driven.
- Experience producing live-action video shoots.
- Proficiency with project management software (e.g., Teamwork, Jira, Notion, Asana, Google Suite) and a range of generative AI tools relevant to your area of expertise; familiarity with media production softwares (Adobe Creative Suite, etc)
Bonus if you have:
- Experience in marketing & communications within the non-profit or public sectors.
- Experience with immersive or interactive media formats.
- Experience working on digital learning products.
- Fluency in French and/or Spanish.

Location
