Job Summary:

We are looking for a Barista to prepare and serve hot and cold beverages, including various types of coffee and tea.

As part of our "Replenish" coffee shop team, our Baristas responsibilities include making and serving beverages, such as coffee and tea, and serving grab-and-go food items, such as sandwiches, muffins, or cookies. They package coffee blends, make coffee and tea, explain menu items to customers, clean, and attempt to ensure that customers are comfortable and satisfied. Ultimately, you'll ensure an excellent drinking experience for our guests.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Welcome customers, inform them about specials or new items, and make recommendations
  • Process cash register payments by cash, credit card, gift card, and debit
  • Serve beverages and prepared food, like cookies, pastries and muffins; Popping our signature Stong's Market popcorn
  • Prepare specialty drinks made to order, including grinding and blending coffee beans, brewing coffee and tea
  • Selling coffee and tea blends and brewing equipment, highlighting the differences between items, and educating customers about brewing methods
  • Clean and restock the work and dining areas, empty garbage and recycling bins, and sanitize equipment and utensils
  • Ongoing learning about brewing methods, beverage blends, food preparation, and presentation techniques to improve food quality
  • Update signage and displays to attract customers
  • Maintain inventory and replenish items in display cases, coolers, at tables, or behind the counter; participate in store inventory count
  • Support other store departments with tasks such as rotating product, stocking items, cleaning and maintaining the store's appearance
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Proven customer service or retail experience is a plus
  • Great attention to detail
  • Good communication and people skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Available to work early morning, evenings, weekends, and holidays
Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Previous work experience as a Barista, an asset

Successful completion of Food Safe Certificate, an asset

Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to stand during scheduled shift, withstand repetitive walking, reaching, and bending for long periods of time
  • Able to lift up to 20 pounds at times
