About Us:
The Saskatchewan Foster Families Association (SFFA) is committed to supporting foster families and creating nurturing environments for children and youth in care across the province. We are currently seeking a reliable and motivated Domestic Support Worker to assist with housekeeping and childcare within a home in Deer Valley, SK. This is a part-time position, with potential for additional hours in the future.

Position Overview:
As a Domestic Support Worker, you will play an integral role in maintaining a clean, organized, and safe home environment, while also providing occasional support with childcare duties. You will be responsible for performing various housekeeping tasks and contributing to the overall well-being of the children in the home by supporting caregivers in daily routines as needed. The ideal candidate will have strong time management skills, a caring and patient demeanor, and the ability to work independently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Housekeeping Duties:
    • Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors throughout the home.

    • Manage kitchen duties, including sanitizing countertops, cupboards, tables, and chairs, and organizing within cupboards, pantry, and refrigerator.

    • Clean and maintain kitchen appliances, such as cooking ranges, dishwashers, and microwaves.

    • Empty waste bins and garbage cans.

    • Dust living areas, including window blinds and interior windows.

    • Sanitize bathrooms, including toilets, tubs, showers, mirrors, and sinks.

    • Sanitize common surfaces throughout the home, including door handles, baseboards, and walls.

    • Wash, fold, and put away laundry.

    • Accurately document tasks completed.

  • Childcare Support Duties:

    • Assist with supervision of children during daily routines or while caregivers are occupied.

    • Support in preparing snacks or simple meals for children.

    • Engage children in age-appropriate activities or play when needed.

    • Provide a safe, nurturing environment and reinforce household routines and expectations.

    • Assist with organizing children's belongings or play areas.

Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

  • Criminal Record Check (inclusive of Vulnerable Sector Check).

  • Valid Driver's License.

  • Knowledge of cleaning procedures and practices.

  • Ability to read and follow instructions.

  • Understanding of safety practices when using cleaning agents.

  • Comfort and experience working with children in a home or care setting.

  • Previous experience in house cleaning, childcare, or support roles (e.g. nannying, early childhood education, foster or group care) is preferred.
