Base pay range CA$41.97/hr - CA$49.45/hr Education and Early Childhood Development This position is involved in implementing the Child Care Services Act and Regulations; and will participate in ongoing monitoring of childcare centers and family childcare homes to ensure quality childcare as defined by the legislation, policies and procedures is followed. To ensure best practices for health, safety and well-being of children from birth to 13 years of age. The incumbent will complete inspections of childcare centers and provide follow-up on outstanding issues identified; participate in licensing of childcare centers and family childcare homes; act in an advisory and supportive role for licensees and families. This position will complete on site visits, interpretation of legislation, policies and procedures; and liaise with other agencies and resources. The Social Worker II will maintain a regular visitation schedule to provide support and direction; conduct investigations on reports of maltreatment and accidents in licensed child care facilities; participate in regional and provincial committees related to child care services; work within a team to advocate for and promote quality child care standards through the development and delivery of community presentations and information sessions; interpret and implement Child Care Services Act, Regulations; maintain accountability to the Regional Manager for integrity and professional practice issues while performing other related duties as required. Screening Criteria Completion of a Bachelor of Social Work degree Experience working with legislation governing Child Care Services Experience working with community groups Assessment Criteria Knowledge of professional social work practice relating to well-being of children, youth and families Knowledge of related professional social work practicesKnowledge of legislation governing the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development as related to childcare services (asset) Case Management Skills Decision-Making Skills Ability to Effectively Exchange Information Ability to Work Independently Commitment to Service Delivery Excellence Conditions of Employment Conditions of Offer Registered with the Newfoundland and Labrador College of Social Workers (NLCSW) Recent satisfactory Criminal Record Check from local police Recent and satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check from local police Proof of valid class 5 driver’s license Conditions of Acceptance Requirement for flexible work schedule Use of a private vehicle with business insurance Requirement for travel Information for Applicants This is a NAPE HP bargaining unit position and as per the Collective Agreement, applicants internal to the bargaining unit will be processed prior to other candidates.
