Position:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented
Lead Hand – Deburr
to support daily operations in our Deburr area. This role is hands-on and working alongside the team, performing deburring, polishing, and hand-finishing of complex aerospace components to required specifications. The Lead Hand will help coordinate work, support operators with technical questions, ensure quality standards are met, and flag any issues related to safety, quality, or workflow. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical skills, experience with high-tolerance machined aerospace parts, and the ability to lead by example on the shop floor.
Role And Responsibilities
- Perform and lead hands-on deburring, filing, sanding, polishing, and hand-fitting of landing gear components.
- Provide day-to-day guidance to deburr operators, helping prioritize work and resolve technical issues.
- Read and interpret drawings and work instructions; ensure consistent execution to specifications.
- Use and oversee proper use of hand tools, pneumatic tools, and inspection equipment.
- Inspect parts, identify non-conformances, and escalate to Quality or supervision as required.
- Coordinate with machining, assembly, and quality to maintain production flow.
- Maintain 5S, safety, and housekeeping standards in the Deburr area.
- Support training and continuous improvement activities.
- Lead by example in safety, quality, and workmanship.
Requirements:
- Minimum high school diploma.
- 3-5 years' experience in a deburring function.
- Knowledge of Work Order administration.
- Knowledge in deburring and polishing varied materials and metals.
- Attention to detail with a strong focus on quality.
- Ability to interpret drawings for finishing requirements.
- Good communications and working relationships skills and abilities.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
- Familiarity with AS9100 and aerospace quality systems.
