Duration:

Schedule:

Company Overview:

We are a mid-sized, client-centric public accounting firm based in Oakville, Ontario, specializing in comprehensive wealth stewardship for high-net-worth individuals and entrepreneurial families. Our multi-disciplinary team delivers tailored solutions in financial advisory, accounting services, and integrated wealth planning. With a focus on long-term partnerships, we empower clients to optimize financial operations, enhance decision-making, and support sustainable growth. Recognized as a Great Place to Work and a top employer for women, we foster a collaborative environment where professionals thrive through work-life balance, professional development, and meaningful client impact.

Our client is seeking a dynamic Senior Accounting Advisory Manager to lead our financial advisory practice, emphasizing proactive accounting solutions for high-net-worth clients and family enterprises. Reporting to the Advisory Director, you will focus on strategic financial guidance, performance optimization, and wealth-aligned accounting services, with minimal involvement in tax or assurance functions. This role is perfect for a client-savvy CPA from public practice who excels in advisory consulting, relationship building, and translating complex financial data into actionable insights. The ideal candidate brings 6+ years of experience in advisory or consulting roles within public accounting, a consultative approach, and the ability to bridge accounting with wealth planning. This full-time, hybrid role offers competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, and strong progression toward partnership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Advisory & Optimization: Deliver customized advisory services, including financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, and profitability analysis to drive client business performance and wealth growth.
  • Accounting Services Oversight: Manage outsourced accounting functions such as bookkeeping, payroll reconciliation, and management reporting for HNW portfolios, ensuring accuracy and efficiency without audit involvement.
  • Client Relationship Management: Cultivate and nurture relationships with 15–25 high-value clients through regular strategy sessions, KPI dashboards, and scenario planning to provide ongoing financial advisory support.
  • Wealth Integration: Work closely with wealth planners and estate advisors to incorporate accounting insights into broader strategies, such as cash flow management, investment performance tracking, and family office setup.
  • Process Improvement & Tools: Lead initiatives to streamline client financial processes using technology, including ERP implementations, automated reporting, and data visualization for better decision-making.
  • Team Leadership & Innovation: Mentor junior advisory staff, foster knowledge sharing on emerging financial trends (e.g., ESG reporting for family offices), and contribute to internal tool development.
  • Business Development: Support growth by leveraging client networks for referrals, developing advisory proposals, and presenting at firm events on topics like entrepreneurial financial strategy.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Education & Credentials: CPA designation (CA/CPA) required; certifications in financial planning (e.g., CFP) or advisory (e.g., CMA) are assets. Solid understanding of Canadian financial reporting standards and HNW-specific accounting nuances.
  • Experience: 6–10 years in public accounting advisory or consulting at a mid-sized firm, with a track record in financial advisory for private clients and family businesses. Proficiency with tools like QuickBooks, Xero, or financial modeling software (e.g., Adaptive Insights) preferred.
  • Core Competencies: Strong analytical and storytelling skills to simplify financial data for non-experts; exceptional interpersonal abilities for client consultations and team collaboration. Commitment to confidentiality and ethical advisory practices.
  • Personal Attributes: Empathetic advisor who thrives in a relationship-driven, innovative culture; proactive and adaptable with a focus on client success over routine compliance. Fluency in English required, French an advantage for diverse clientele.
  • Technical Proficiency: Expert in Excel (advanced functions, VBA), BI tools (e.g., Tableau or Power BI), and CRM platforms for client portfolio management.
