About The Role
Myticas Consulting is seeking a Configuration Management Specialist to support a large-scale communications systems organization in Ottawa. In this role, you will define and manage configuration identification, asset tracking, and release management for complex systems, working closely with engineering, software, test, and document management teams.

You will establish configuration baselines, control hardware and software configurations, support export control compliance, and oversee software releases from planning through execution. This is an opportunity to shape and improve configuration management processes that directly impact the reliability, traceability, and compliance of critical communications solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Support and coordinate activities to establish rules for configuration item (CI) selection and baseline content definition
  • Assist in selecting configuration items at appropriate levels of the product structure and determine required configuration documentation for each CI
  • Define, develop, and manage processes, procedures, and tools to identify, document, and control physical assets for a large-scale communications system
  • Maintain an inventory of system assets (hardware) and control/document system, hardware, and software configurations, including both "as-designed" and "as-built" baselines
  • Provide support for export control compliance processes such as ITAR
  • Collaborate with technical teams and project management to define roles and responsibilities for configuration and release management
  • Work with development, test environment, and verification teams to define and document processes for managing software releases
  • For each release, verify required documentation is complete, approved, and captured, and ensure release packages are created in accordance with established procedures
  • Confirm that pending or outstanding changes do not impact planned test or release activities, and support development, lab, and test teams to ensure timely and accurate release execution
  • Assist with impact assessments and update the CI Tree and related configuration documentation to reflect approved changes
  • Support preparation and execution of configuration item status accounting and configuration audits
  • Provide subject matter expertise on configuration management (CM) processes, standards, and systems and contribute to requirements management and traceability process documentation and improvement
  • Develop training materials for CM identification, software/release management, and general CM procedures; participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance CM process efficiency, reliability, and cost-effectiveness
  • Initiate updates to documentation based on approved change requests and collaborate with document management personnel to track and complete implementation of documentation updates
  • Ensure all released documents are logged, captured, and statused in the document management system, acting as backup support for document management when needed

Requirements

  • Based in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, or within a reasonable commuting distance for on-site work
  • At least 5 years of combined post-secondary education and professional experience in Canada in an engineering design environment working with systems, hardware, software, and test teams
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in configuration and/or data management in an engineering or technical product environment
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in software or systems release management, including coordination with development and test teams
  • Bachelor's or college degree in engineering, science, or a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Formal training, certification, or documented experience with configuration management standards such as CM2, ANSI-EIA 649, or ISO 10007

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with software configuration management tools and processes (e.g., version control, CI/CD, release tracking tools)
  • Experience working in high-performing, multidisciplinary development teams on complex systems or communications projects
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences; collaborative, team-oriented, and self-driven
  • Intermediate-level proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and French
