Senior Estimator / Head of Building Science
to support project bidding, provide technical expertise on building envelope systems, and guide sales and estimation teams with accurate, compliant, and value-driven technical solutions.
Responsibilities
1. Project Bidding & Estimation
- Prepare accurate and competitive bids for construction and cladding projects.
- Review plans, specifications, and scopes of work.
- Develop detailed cost estimates for materials, labor, and subcontractors.
- Submit professional bid packages and conduct risk and market analysis.
2. Technical Sales Support
- Provide technical guidance on building envelope systems and product integration.
- Support client meetings with technical presentations and documentation.
- Answer product performance and installation inquiries.
3. Estimation Leadership
- Lead and mentor the estimation team to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
- Oversee takeoffs using tools like Bluebeam, PlanSwift, and Excel.
- Coordinate with engineering and production teams for alignment.
4. Building Science Expertise
- Evaluate building envelope performance, compliance, and sustainability.
- Ensure adherence to codes and standards such as ASHRAE and LEED.
- Provide recommendations for design and integration of façade and solar products.
5. Process Improvement & Cross-Department Collaboration
- Streamline workflows between estimation, engineering, and sales.
- Implement KPI-driven improvements and best practices across teams.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related field.
- 7+ years of experience in cladding, building envelope systems, or façade construction.
- Proven experience in construction estimation and cost modeling.
- Proficiency in CAD and estimation software (Bluebeam, PlanSwift).
- Strong understanding of building codes and façade/solar integration standards.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to simplify technical concepts.
- Leadership experience managing or coaching technical teams.
