As a Category Specialist, you will be responsible for supporting the vision and strategy plans of the Centex Retail business, identifying and actioning processes designated to the role, that deliver a clear value for our customers, drive increased business performance for Centex, and create a competitive advantage within the Convenience and Gas channel.
This role will include the management of identified categories within the retail banner. The candidate will work alongside a dynamic, professional team across Category Management, Store Format, Marketing, Network Development, and Convenience Retail, while collaborating closely with Sales and Operations, and key stakeholders to leverage learnings and drive profitable portfolio growth.
Accountabilities:
- Manage identified portfolio of retail categories
- Pricebook development & reporting
- New Site Vendor Application process - Liaise with all vendors to ensure new site readiness at opening.
- Support Centex Promotional Activities:
- Promotional Performance analysis
- Promo communication to Vendors
- Promo Communication (Bulletin) to sites
- Promo signage review with Marketing
- Promotional signage invoicing to vendors
- Sales reporting accuracy
- Grand Opening Planning and on-site execution
- Account Receivables – manage outstanding items and follow up with vendors
- Manage and maintain Site Attributes list
- Vetting general inquiries from Retail Rep, Operators & Vendors
What You Bring
- Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
- Bachelor's degree in business, Marketing, or related field preferred
- At least 3 years of experience in category management
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Excel
- Must have a grasp of retail fundamentals, including purchasing, assortment planning, merchandising, convenience retail operations, and pricing architecture
- Excellent negotiation, communication, relationship, contract & partner management skills
- Proven skills in prioritization and time management, with the capacity to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
- Collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation abilities
- Must be willing to work from the Calgary office
- Must have a valid driver's license with clean abstract, as travel across Canada and possibly US destinations may be required
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $62,500.00-$67,500.00 per year
