Lead CAREGiver – York Region
Be a Mentor. Make a Difference. Grow with Us.
At Home Instead, we believe every older adult deserves to age with dignity, comfort, and joy and that starts with compassionate CAREGivers. As a Lead CAREGiver, you'll play a key role in supporting both clients and fellow CAREGivers across the York Region community. This is a unique opportunity to step into a leadership role where you can mentor, coach, and inspire others, while continuing to provide meaningful, hands-on care when needed.
This position is ideal for an experienced CAREGiver who is ready to take the next step in their career by becoming a role model, mentor, and trusted point of support for both staff and families.
What You'll Do
As a Lead CAREGiver, you'll be out in the community making a difference every day:
- Support CAREGivers in the field by providing positive coaching, mentoring, and encouragement.
- Introduce new CAREGivers to clients to ensure smooth transitions and trust-building.
- Model excellence by demonstrating best practices in client care, communication, and professionalism.
- Assist with quality assurance checking in on visits, ensuring client care plans are followed, and addressing concerns before they become problems.
- Collaborate with office staff (Client Care Coordinator, Education Coordinator, General Manager) to share feedback, recommend training, and improve services.
- Step in as a CAREGiver for emergency coverage when needed (minimum two 4-hour shifts per week).
- Support celebrations and recognition by attending and helping with quarterly CAREGiver events.
- Administrative support (scheduling, annual reviews, training input, clerical tasks) as needed.
What We're Looking For
We're seeking someone who is not only skilled in providing exceptional care, but also passionate about helping others grow in their roles.
- A natural mentor who is patient, encouraging, and approachable.
- A strong communicator who can clearly explain care expectations to CAREGivers, clients, and families.
- Reliable and professional — you'll represent Home Instead in the community and must present yourself with pride.
- Comfortable traveling throughout the York Region (mileage reimbursed).
- Proficient with technology (ClearCare and mobile apps).
Requirements:
- Valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, and auto insurance.
- Ability to lift/push/pull up to 25 lbs and provide personal care to clients of all genders.
- Comfort working in various home environments (including homes with pets).
- Clear criminal background check and driver's abstract.
- This role requires being out in the community, building trust, and representing the Brand Promise of our York Region Office. The Lead CAREGiver will travel throughout our exclusive service area, prioritizing support where it is needed most, including:
