Recreational Therapist Job Summary:
The successful candidate must be able to work independently, have excellent communication skills, establish relationships quickly and have a passion for the field of Therapeutic Recreation. For more information on our agency, please visit our website at
Recreational Therapist Duties:
- Provide one to one therapeutic recreation interventions for clients suffering from any or combination of Psychosis, ADHD, Autism, Anger Management, Mental Health issues and self expression challenges.
- Client requires a caregiver with a Valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle is a must.
- Complete assessments, establish goals and set up milestones leading to achieving a successful result based on the assessed needs.
- Adjust programs to evolving needs and/or abilities as a result of the care provided.
- Fill in proper documentation as required.
- Develop a positive professional working relationship with facility staff and client family members.
Recreational Therapist Qualifications:
- A diploma/degree in Therapeutic Recreation
- Documented experience working with mental health challenges.
- Experience dealing with Psychosis is an asset.
- 1 year knowledge of and documented experience with therapeutic recreation assessment techniques, establishing treatment plans, program development, implementation, documentation and evaluation.
Additional Qualifications:
Compassionate, optimistic, patient and caring nature.
Police Criminal Reference Check.
Special Needs children Care training and experience is an asset.
Current certificate in standard first aid and CPR.
Ability to work independently.
Excellent communication and listening skills.
Must be physically and mentally fit to handle the demands of care giving.
Must be passionate and committed in heart and mind in everything you do
You should have regular access to email / internet with MS Office knowledge.
