Alberta-Pacific Forest Industries Inc. (Al-Pac) is seeking a Transportation Technician to work out of our millsite in the county of Athabasca, Alberta. The successful candidate is responsible for the effective coordination of a fleet of drivers and vehicles for our Woodlands Transportation group. This position provides operational support services and acts as first-line supervisor of the Woodlands Transportation, Operations and Logistics areas.

This role is a casual opportunity requiring availability for days, nights, weekends and on call work at an as-needed frequency with no guaranteed hours.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Supervision and compliance monitoring of all deliveries.
  • Dispatching trucks and coordinating log haul schedules using computer-based applications.
  • Monitoring safety compliance.
  • Enforcement of Woodlands Log Haul Policies and procedures and applicable transportation regulations.
  • Assist in Emergency Response for Woodlands activities.
  • Administrative duties and data entry.
  • Liaise with multiple internal and external stakeholders for transportation related activities.

Role Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • 1+ years of dispatching, transportation, or similar experience an asset
  • Knowledgeable in the transportation industry an asset
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong technical skills with computers, including but not limited to the Microsoft Suite (excel, word, etc) and ability to adapt to new systems.
  • Self-motivated individual who works well in a team environment and with multiple stakeholders, at times under pressure.
  • Strong multitasking skills, troubleshooting, and analytical skills.
