We're looking for a talented developer to join our team and help craft exceptional WordPress websites for professional and member-based organizations. You'll build custom themes and plugins, enhance existing sites, and bring designs to life with performance, scalability, and maintainability in mind.

You'll collaborate with our designers, project managers, and content strategists to deliver high-quality, user-focused digital experiences. This is a hands-on development role with room for innovation, creativity, and growth.

What You'll Do

  • Develop and maintain custom WordPress themes and plugins.
  • Build native React blocks for the WordPress Block Editor (Gutenberg).
  • Use AI-assisted tools to streamline workflows, improve quality, and support innovation.
  • Implement accessible, pixel-perfect front-end experiences using modern HTML, CSS/SASS, and JavaScript.
  • Write clean, secure, and well-documented PHP and WordPress code.
  • Optimize sites for speed, accessibility, and technical SEO.
  • Collaborate with designers and content strategists to deliver engaging user experiences.
  • Review your own work and others' for quality assurance and consistency.
  • Contribute to process improvements, documentation, and reusable code libraries.
  • Stay current with evolving WordPress practices and web technologies.
  • Track work and progress in our project management tools.

What You Bring

  • 2+ years of professional experience developing for WordPress or another modern CMS.
  • Strong understanding of PHP, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, and CSS3/SASS.
  • Experience building or customizing themes and plugins from scratch.
  • Familiarity with React-based WordPress development and native block creation.
  • Experience with version control (Git) and local development workflows.
  • A thoughtful, detail-oriented approach to your work.
  • A passion for learning, collaborating, and building things that matter.

Bonus Points

  • Experience with , Webpack/Vite, or Composer.
  • Understanding of REST APIs, headless WordPress, or decoupled architectures.
  • Familiarity with WCAG accessibility standards.
  • Experience with hosting environments like Pantheon or similar platforms.
  • Education in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience.

Work Environment

We're primarily looking for an intermediate to senior WordPress developer who can work independently and contribute at a high level. We're open to capable junior applicants as well, and will provide the support and structure needed for them to grow into the role.

For more junior developers, we'd start with a five-day work schedule to support collaboration, communication, and consistent project flow. Experienced senior developers who work with a high degree of autonomy may have the option of a reduced-hours, four-day schedule. The goal is to align each person's schedule with the level of independence their role requires.
