Paws and Claws Animal Hospital is looking for an experienced Veterinary Assistant to add to our wonderful clinic We are privately owned and located in Langley, BC. Ours is a small animal, (cat/dog only), practice which has been serving our community for over 20 years.

You would be joining a team that includes multiple doctors, 2 RVTs, and practices a high standard of care for all our patients. We are committed to preventative health care and providing compassionate service while cultivating long-term relationships with clients and coworkers.

To be successful, you will be expected to eagerly seek out tasks needing completion and areas where you would be most needed throughout your shift. You will be encouraged to utilize all your Veterinary Assistant skills including, but not limited to:

  • Assisting the veterinarian (eg. being available for the doctor and anticipating when they will need your skills).
  • Assisting RVTs with treatments and diagnostics (eg. having excellent restraint skills to make sure humans and pets remain safe).
  • Assisting the receptionist with client care and prescription filling (eg. communicating carefully and effectively with clients about medical information to increase compliance).
  • Preparing and updating medical records for each patient.
  • Maintaining daily/weekly/monthly cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including sterilizing instruments and equipment.
  • There will also be opportunities to further your knowledge and skills (and increase your wage) as you demonstrate your interest and abilities.

The ability to physically meet the requirements of the job is important. Knowledge of Ezyvet Veterinary Software would be an asset.

A positive attitude and strong work ethic are key Salary is competitive and commensurate with skills and experience.

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Langley, BC V3A 4H6: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Experience:

  • Veterinary Assistant: minimum 3 years experience with the ability to demonstrate hands-on skills

Certifications:

  • Formal Veterinary Assistant training program and/or equivalent experience of at least 3 years

Part-time hours to start: ~24 hours per week during our operating hours, (Mon 8-6, Fri 8:30-5, Sat 8:30-2). We appreciate flexibility as covering holiday/time off shifts is also needed.
