Hiring: Interim Capital Projects Finance Manager (Contract)

We are seeking a highly skilled and
hands-on
Interim Capital Projects Finance/AP Manager
for a minimum
5-month contract
(with possible extension) based in
Toronto
. This management-level role is critical for overseeing capital financial accounting, ensuring regulatory compliance, and acting as a functional lead for capital project financial systems.

  • Role Type:
    5-Month Contract (with potential for extension or long-term placement).
  • Location:
    Toronto (On-site).
  • Team Leadership:
    Oversee a dedicated team of 5 Capital AP staff members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Oversight:
    Lead financial accounting for large-scale capital projects, ensuring adherence to GAAP standards and internal policies.
  • Compliance & Legislation:
    Ensure strict compliance with
    Ontario's Construction Act
    , specifically regarding prompt payment requirements, lien holdbacks, and statutory processes.
  • System Administration:
    Act as the
    Subject Matter Expert (SME)
    and Business Owner for the Capital Projects Portal, directing system changes, testing, and user training.
  • Audit & Year-End:
    Serve as the primary contact for capital project audits and lead all year-end close activities, including accruals and reconciliations.
  • Process Improvement:
    Continuously identify and implement workflow enhancements to improve system integrity and internal controls.

What You Bring

  • Extensive Experience:
    Proven background in capital financial accounting, construction accounting, or large-scale project accounting.
  • Legal Expertise:
    Demonstrated experience navigating
    Ontario's Construction Act

  • Technical Proficiency:
    Advanced MS Excel skills and SAP
  • Exceptional ability to collaborate with IT, operations, external vendors, and senior finance colleagues.
  • Strong knowledge of internal controls and audit requirements.
