Job Summary

We are seeking a Junior Tax Preparer to join our team for the upcoming tax season (or year-round). The successful candidate will assist in preparing individual and small business tax returns, ensuring compliance with CRA regulations, and maintaining a high standard of accuracy and client care.

Responsibilities

  • Collect and organize clients' tax documentation (T-slips, receipts, statements, etc.)
  • Prepare and input financial information into tax software (ProFile)
  • Assist in preparing T1 personal and basic T2 corporate tax returns (client facing)
  • Review returns for completeness and accuracy before final review by senior staff
  • Communicate with clients to obtain missing information or clarify discrepancies
  • Maintain confidentiality of all clients financial data
  • Support the team with administrative and filing tasks during peak periods

Requirements

  • Diploma or coursework in Accounting, Bookkeeping, or Taxation (or currently enrolled)
  • Basic knowledge of Canadian tax laws and CRA filing procedures
  • Familiarity with tax software, QuickBooksand Microsoft Excel
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Previous experience in an accounting or tax office is an asset but not required
