Primary Homeform Teacher, Lower School

As a dynamic, engaging and certified teacher with exceptional relationship-building, communication and teaching skills, you have a passion for teaching boys. Responsibilities:
- Plan, implement, and assess the core curriculum for Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies for Primary students using creative teaching strategies and differentiated instruction;
- Integrate a strong instructional focus on building foundational literacy and numeracy skills in the early grades;
- Conduct early screening and diagnostics (e.g., phonological awareness, letter-sound knowledge, decoding, early writing stages, number sense assessments);
- Use ongoing diagnostic and formative assessments to identify students who require targeted and timely intervention in reading, writing, and mathematics;
- Employ innovation and technology in the planning, implementing, teaching and assessing of the core curriculum for Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies;
- Provide a safe, inclusive, and caring classroom that supports social-emotional learning and self-regulation, both crucial for early academic development;
- Engage in multi-disciplinary collaboration (e.g., resource teachers, speech-language pathologists, math/literacy coaches) when early needs are identified.
- Utilize a variety of strategies to build professionally strong and effective relationships with students;
- Establish and maintain strong, collaborative partnerships with families to support student growth, communicate progress, and align home and school learning environments;
- Participate in professional meetings and development opportunities;
- Coach or participate in co-curricular activities for at least two terms;
- Integrate the School's mission throughout all curricular and co-curricular activities;
- Participate in supervision, duty and evening and weekend events as required.
The successful candidate will have:
- A Bachelor of Education;
- Membership in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers (with Primary/Junior Division qualifications);
- A minimum of two years of primary classroom teaching experience;
- A deep understanding of the Ontario Curriculum, with a demonstrated commitment to early intervention in literacy and numeracy.
- Expertise in using diagnostic and formative assessment to guide instruction:
- The ability to nurture social-emotional development and create a caring, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment
- Superior and demonstrated relationship-building and relational teaching skills;
- Passion, creativity, and commitment to the role, team and School mission;
- The ability to lead proactive parent engagement and communication in a thoughtful and consistent manner;
- Proven leadership in implementing an integrated curriculum;
- Demonstrated commitment to educational excellence and boy-centric teaching philosophies;
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills;
- Strong desire to contribute to the co-curricular program;
- Growth mindset, curiosity and willingness to accept new perspectives;
- Compassion, and a desire to cultivate courage and nurture connection;
- A burning desire to become fully immersed in the School's positive and progressive culture.
