Position Summary
We are seeking a talented and motivated Sous Chef to join our opening team. The Sous Chef will work closely with the Executive Chef to oversee all aspects of kitchen operations, from prep and production to plating and service. This role requires a balance of creativity, leadership, and technical skill, as well as the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Executive Chef with menu development, prep planning, and execution
- Lead and train BOH staff, ensuring consistency and quality standards
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen environment
- Monitor food costs, waste, and inventory control
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations
- Step into leadership during the Executive Chef's absence
Qualifications
- Minimum 3+ years of professional cooking experience
- Strong understanding of modern cooking techniques and plating standards
- Ability to manage, train, and inspire a kitchen team
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Red Seal certification or culinary diploma an asset, but not required
