Position Overview:

The Assistant Site Superintendent supports site operations across Amico's Design-Build projects, working closely with the Site Superintendent, Project Manager, and field teams to ensure work is delivered safely, efficiently, and in alignment with design intent. This role provides hands-on coordination, quality oversight, and real-time problem solving on a range of healthcare, commercial, and institutional design-build projects.

Responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring our projects run smoothly on time, and to the highest standards.
  • Contributing towards the success of major infrastructure developments through effective leadership and organizational skills.
  • Supporting on-site supervision of construction activities and collaborating with stakeholders to ensure project success.
  • Assisting in coordinating daily on-site construction activities.
  • Enforcing health and safety protocols in compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Supervising subcontractors and ensuring their tasks are completed efficiently.
  • Supporting scheduling, inspections, and reporting requirements.
  • Communicating updates regularly to the Superintendent and Project Manager.
  • Assisting with scheduling and the coordination of suppliers and sub-trades
  • Assisting with scheduling and coordination of crews to sites.
  • Completing and maintaining daily journals/site records.
  • Organizing/Preparing administrative documents.
  • Monitoring tools and equipment on site for cost control.
  • Documenting and preparing work documents for submission to the client.
  • Reviewing and monitoring Amico and its Subcontractors' deficiencies and required corrective actions.

Required Skills and Knowledge:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma from a Civil Engineering and/or Construction Management discipline preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a relevant capacity.
  • Working knowledge of contracts, industry practices and codes.
  • Must possess strong organization and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and with minimum supervision.
  • Problem solving skills and troubleshooting knowledge.
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe. Previous HCSS software experience is preferred.
  • Previous scheduling experience is preferred.
  • Working knowledge / understanding of surveying & site layouts, grades, etc.
  • Experience supervising construction sites, ideally in infrastructure or civil works.
  • Knowledgeable about OH&S standards, and site safety practices.
  • The ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Proven organizational and time-management skills.
  • Must be an effective communicator and team leader.
  • The ability to successfully apply a mix of technical expertise, team coordination skills, and attention to detail. These contributions will help deliver projects that meet expectations.
