Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care and ensuring the smooth operation of our dental clinic. This position requires proficiency in various dental procedures, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to maintaining a clean and safe environment for both patients and staff.

Duties

  • Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures, ensuring efficient workflow through four-handed dentistry techniques.
  • Prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment, adhering to infection control protocols.
  • Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) while ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
  • Maintain accurate medical documentation, including patient records and medical history, in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
  • Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-operative care instructions.
  • Manage appointment scheduling, patient check-in/check-out processes, and basic dental receptionist duties.
  • Utilize electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft for patient management.
  • Support pediatric dentistry needs by providing compassionate care to younger patients.
  • Assist with various dental specialties including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry.

Skills

  • Proficient in using EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft.
  • Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and aseptic techniques.
  • Experience with chairside assisting and taking vital signs.
  • Familiarity with medical imaging techniques and 3D scanners is a plus.
  • Understanding of infection control practices within a dental clinic setting.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages.
  • Ability to manage medical documentation and coding accurately.
  • Previous experience in a dental clinic environment is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Knowledge of pediatric care principles is advantageous.
