Pay Range: Payband G - $34.60

Under the supervision of the Manager of Indigenous Research and Development, the Indigenous Research and Development Coordinator provides coordination and administrative support for applied research and development projects involving Indigenous Peoples, communities, and organizations. Working under the direction and guidance of the Manager, this role assists with project scoping, proposal and grant writing, budgeting, implementation, data collection and analysis, and report preparation.

The incumbent will be expected to collaborate with the Director of the Research Centre, academic leadership, researchers, students, and community or industry partners to support project timelines and deliverables. Strong organizational, research, and communication skills are essential, along with proficiency in data management and related software tools.

Qualifications:

  • Three or four-year diploma/degree in a related field such as Indigenous Studies, Public Administration, Social or Health Sciences, Business Administration, Community Development, Research/Project Management, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment requiring a high level of attention to detail and consistently high-quality outcomes across a variety of projects and initiatives.
  • The incumbent has lived experience as a First Nations, Métis, or Inuit person.
  • Experience in research methodology and implementation, including Indigenous research methodologies.
  • Proficiency with project management and digital tools (e.g., MS Office Suite, SharePoint, Excel, project tracking software, or research databases) to design, input, track, and maintain information for project management, research documentation, and ethical research requirements; familiarity with research ethics processes is an asset.
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and analytical skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team setting.
  • In-person, on-campus position. Must be able to reliably commute to North Bay, ON

Responsibilities:

  • Support the coordination and implementation of Indigenous research and development projects under the direction of the Manager.
  • Assist with project scoping, proposal development, and preparation of funding and grant applications.
  • Coordinate project logistics, including scheduling meetings, tracking timelines and milestones, assisting with hiring of students, purchasing, obtaining quotes, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Support communication and information sharing among internal teams, community partners, and funding agencies by assisting with data collection, analysis, and the preparation of technical, financial, and summary reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist in coordination support for student researchers and project staff, including organizing required training and supporting ethical, culturally grounded, and community-driven research practices.
  • Assist with project close-out activities, including documentation, reporting, and identifying potential follow-on opportunities with partners.
  • Support general administrative and outreach activities for the Indigenous Research and Development portfolio, including correspondence, meeting coordination, promotional content (web, social media, bulletins), event planning, and related tasks such as health and safety processes.
