Who We Are Looking For
We are seeking a highly experienced lawyer with:
• A proven
portable practice
and consistent history of generating client work
• A minimum of 2 years of post-call experience in Alberta: Minimum 2+ years of experience for Legal Counsel Position, and 7+ years of experience for Senior Legal Counsel Position
• Strong advocacy, negotiation, and client management skills
• A practice in one or more high-demand areas: family law, civil litigation, employment law, criminal defence, or related fields
• A desire to integrate their practice into a larger firm while maintaining autonomy
• High professional standards, strong judgment, and the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team
This is
not
an Associate position. We are specifically recruiting a senior practitioner who is comfortable operating at Legal Counsel or Senior Legal Counsel level under his or her respective professional corporation.

Key Responsibilities
• Manage and develop your portable practice within the firm
• Represent both existing clients and/or new clients referred by Shim Law
• Conduct court appearances, mediations, negotiations, and all aspects of file management
• Provide guidance to junior associates and paralegals as needed
• Maintain high standards of professionalism, client service, and file management
Requirements
• Member in good standing with the Law Society of Alberta
• Minimum 2 years of experience for Legal Counsel; 7 years of experience for Senior Legal Counsel
• Demonstrated ability to generate and manage client files independently
• Strong written and oral advocacy skills
• Ability to work in a multicultural environment; additional languages are an asset
• Commitment to professional integrity and client-centered service
