Early-Stage Full Stack Developer

Location: Remote | Long-term commitment | Equity-first compensation

BarCoded FitTech is building a smartwatch-first performance analytics platform for elite strength & conditioning coaches—turning raw training data into real-time, actionable insights for athletes and teams.

We are not hiring a traditional employee at this stage.

We are looking for a hands-on full stack developer to join the founding team and help build the future of elite sport & performance coaching alongside the founders and existing engineering team.

This role is equity-based initially. Cash compensation will be introduced once funding milestones are reached.

If you need a salary right now, this won't be the right fit—and that's completely okay.

What This Role Is (and Is Not)

This IS:

  • An early-stage startup role with real product impact
  • Part-time or full-time
  • High ownership over features and technical delivery
  • Direct collaboration with the CTO and founding team
  • A chance to grow into a senior or lead engineering role over time

This is NOT:

  • A traditional salaried job (yet)
  • An internship
  • A short-term or casual side project
  • A paid contract at the outset

What You'll Work On

You'll help finalize and harden the product across:

  • Mobile apps (iOS & Android – React Native)
  • Smartwatch apps (watchOS & WearOS)
  • Backend services (Java, Spring Boot)
  • Databases (PostgreSQL + time-series data)

You'll collaborate closely with:

  • The Founding CTO and engineering team
  • Founding CEO & COO
  • Product and domain experts in elite sport & performance

Required Experience & Skills

Strong hands-on experience with:

  • Java & Spring Boot
  • React Native
  • PostgreSQL & SQL data modeling

Nice-to-have (not required):

  • TimescaleDB or other time-series databases
  • Shipping iOS & Android apps
  • Smartwatch development (Apple Watch / WearOS)
  • Experience working on early-stage or MVP products

You should be someone who:

  • Can work independently with minimal hand-holding
  • Communicates clearly and proactively
  • Is comfortable with ambiguity and rapid iteration

Compensation (Transparent & Explicit)

  • Initial compensation: Equity only
  • Future compensation: Salary planned post-funding
  • Equity allocation: Based on contribution, scope, and commitment
